statistics on enrollment, graduates, teachers, and expenditures in elementary and
secondary schools, and enrollment and earned degrees conferred expenditures of degree-granting
institutions. For the Nation, the tables, figures, and text contain data on enrollment,
teachers, graduates, and expenditures for the past 14 years and projections to the
year 2019. For the 50 States and the District of Columbia, the tables, figures,
and text contain data on projections of public elementary and secondary enrollment
and public high school graduates to the year 2019. In addition, the report includes
a methodology section describing models and assumptions used to develop national
and state-level projections.
Trends
in the Receipt of Pell Grants: Selected Years, 1995–96 to 2007–08
Using data from the 1995–96, 1999–2000, 2003–04, and 2007–08 administrations of
the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study, these tables focus on trends in the
receipt of federal Pell Grants and among Pell Grant recipients. Data include the
percentages of Pell Grant recipients and the average Pell Grant received each survey
year. Also shown are the percentages of Pell Grant recipients who received state
grants or institutional grants, or took out student loans, and the average amounts
received from these sources. The average ratio of the Pell Grant to the total cost
of attendance during these selected years is included as well. Data are presented
by a number of demographic and enrollment characteristics, including age, sex, race/ethnicity,
dependency status, family income, attendance status, grade level, employment status,
parents’ education, and type of institution attended.
